76th Seminar on "The World Economy in a“Polycrisis'"

【Feb 23, 2024】

SDRF held the 76th series of seminar on February 23. Mr. Martin Wolf, chief economic commentator of the Financial Times, gave a speech at the symposium titled "The World Economy in a“Polycrisis'". He pointed out that there are unpredictable surprises in the future. The five driving forces that can be predicted in the next two to three decades are population change, climate change, technological change, economic growth, and the shift of the economic center to Asia. Shocks from pandemics, inflation, energy, and wars have increased global systemic vulnerabilities, manifesting themselves in climate, finance, countries, global trade, politics, and geopolitics. Several possible future scenarios range from a return to more or less normal to a major power war.
